Position Description
The Director, Global Hubs is responsible for operational management and overall performance of multiple XPRIZE hubs on a global scale for the purpose of accelerating our impact in the world. This role will foster collaboration between various global partners and XPRIZE, attract and recruit local teams, and ensure customer satisfaction and seamless operations through strong partnerships. This Global Hubs Director will ensure operational success in centers initially including the UK, Canada, Switzerland, and Australia, with the potential of more hubs in the future.
Responsibilities
This position will work with the CEO and Senior Leadership to create a comprehensive strategy for the Hubs, and will be directly responsible for executing on that strategy. Further, the Director will be responsible for the following:
Creating and strengthening regional partnerships and ecosystem:
- Establishing and nurturing relationships with regional hub sponsors and partners, including universities, enterprises, and government bodies.
- Developing strategic alliances to enhance the ecosystem around each hub.
Primary liaison between XPRIZE and the Hubs:
- Providing the hubs with up-to-date information, material and content on a regular basis in support of local operations.
- Facilitating domains to efficiently utilize the resources of the Hubs in each country to advance the mission and the goal of XPRIZE and its competitions.
- Serving as conduit of information for XPRIZE US on events, activities, and results at each hub.
Ensuring Hub success:
- Onboarding and ongoing training of the hub staff, ensuring they are informed on the latest activities at XPRIZE.
- Providing operational support for hub staff to aid them in achieving their goals, maximize their impact and meet their KPIs.
- Facilitating access to resources, mentorship, and training for hub staff.
Providing local support for Hub staff and accelerating their impact:
- Amplifying hub activities and co-develop strategies for growing community engagement within the region.
- Collaborating with XPRIZE CEO and Advancement team on integrating XPRIZE’s overarching fundraising strategies in hub markets/regions.
Capacity building & knowledge sharing:
- Developing and delivering capacity-building programs to enhance the XPRIZE growth in its hubs across the globe.
- Facilitating knowledge sharing through workshops, seminars, and publications.
Events:
- Support planning and executing of events that promote the hubs' mission, engage the community and advance fundraising opportunities.
- Assist in organizing conferences, webinars, and other events to showcase hub activities and achievements.
- Act as a coordinator between the hub and XPRIZE HQ resources and ecosystem to support the above activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, International Relations, or a related field. MBA or equivalent work experience a plus.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in a leadership role, preferably in international partnerships, ecosystem development, or University relations or related fields.
- Proven track record in building and managing regional partnerships.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate diverse teams at all levels of authority.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, including strong business writing and professional verbal communication skills.
- Experience in advocacy, policy influence, and capacity building.
- Ability to travel internationally to hub locations as required.
- Ability to lead senior-level meetings, webinars, workshops, etc.
- Demonstrated P&L responsibility experience.
- Strong project management and leadership experience.
- Ability to thrive and think creatively and calmly in highly fluid situations and under intense schedules and deadlines.
- Highly diplomatic, with proven crisis management experience.
The anticipated base salary for this position is $130,000 to $150,000 and will also qualify for an annual incentive. This role is eligible for our extensive benefits package and generous paid time off including vacation, sick, and holidays. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors including the qualifications of the individual applicant, years of relevant experience for the role, level of education attained, and certifications and/or other licenses held. XPRIZE is a remote-first environment.
