As the VP of Advancement, you’ll have the opportunity to transform the lives of thousands of children, turning oppression into opportunity and exponential impact, by growing our brand and inspiring our supporters. As a key member of the senior leadership team, you’ll cultivate and steward a portfolio of supporters capable of giving 5 and 6 figure gifts to grow our recurring revenue and increase our impact around the world.
Applying your entrepreneurial spirit and hands-on work ethic, you’ll design and execute creative strategies to increase awareness for Many Hopes among major donor audiences. You’ll identify and develop meaningful new relationships and inspire a wide range of people to join the Many Hopes mission. You’ll forge relationships with corporations to secure meaningful partnerships and sponsorships. You’ll identify grant opportunities and work with our grant writer to secure support. You’ll develop a pipeline of potential supporters and building relationships by meeting with supporters, hosting events, and evangelizing the impact of our work. In addition to building and managing your own portfolio, you’ll support the Founder/CEO in stewarding relationships with our longest and most generous supporters.
JOB SUMMARY
As the VP of Advancement, you will….
● Develop and deliver a clearly defined major donor fundraising strategy, including short and long-term measurable key performance indicators and growth goals
● Work towards a collective major donor target of $5M per year, personally responsible for $800k in year one and $1.5M in year 2.
● Build a qualified portfolio of prospects and current supporters with the capacity to give 5 and 6-figure gifts, utilizing our existing database and research tools with your creativity and resourcefulness
● Along with the Founder/CEO, oversee a $6M capital campaign launching in 2023
● Establish fundraising best practices, including systems utilization, prospecting, donor reporting, and donor communications
● Develop a metrics-driven approach to your portfolio, analyzing supporter data to find new opportunities, drive efficiencies, and maximize results
● Propose and execute an event strategy and calendar focused on both cultivating new donor relationships and increasing engagement with existing supporters
● Develop a grant strategy, identifying the most relevant grant opportunities and working with our grant writer to secure funding
● Design and grow the advancement team to support the growing needs of the organization as revenue scales
● Establish relationships with corporate partners, securing sponsorship and partnership dollars
● Partner with the Founder/CEO in cultivating his own portfolio of supporters, lending support where appropriate and necessary
● Work closely with the Creative Director to develop thoughtful, creative and impactful content that links major donors with our work and their impact, to increase renewal rates and gift size
● Consistently deliver a thoughtful, impactful, and hands-on donor experience Travel to each Many Hopes site on the ground as needed to better understand our work on the ground
● Proactively contribute to the success of the entire organization and team, serving as an ambassador of our values and our mission internally and externally
JOB REQUIREMENTS
To be effective in this role, you must:
● Be passionate about Many Hopes, our mission, our team, our beneficiaries, and our supporters.
● Have 8+ years of major donor fundraising experience or 8+ years of sales/management experience in a for profit company with a willingness to learn
● Have a track record of raising at least $1.5M annually from major donors, foundations, and/or corporations
● Proven experience building and growing a portfolio of donors
● Demonstrate an entrepreneurial spirit, developing new concepts, thinking outside the box and consistently iterating to achieve the desired outcome
● Have a history of leading successful initiatives with measurable results that have impacted the bottom line
● Have an astute understanding and deep desire to learn about our brand and our values so you can clearly communicate the importance of our work and why someone should get involved
● Be comfortable and confident rolling up your sleeves and doing the work yourself. We’re a lean team and we all pitch in to make sure everything we release into the world is excellent and inspiring
● Have a track record of securing Corporate Partnerships and/or Sponsorships
● Be an excellent collaborator and communicator with a desire to work cross-functionally and a willingness to advocate for your ideas while being open and inclusive of different perspectives
● Be highly personable with a positive outlook on life with the ability to build strong. meaningful relationships
● Act as a results-oriented leader, who outlines clear performance metrics, data, and analytics to deliver against KPIs and constantly drive results
● Act as a self-motivated driver and leader, who can work autonomously
