Internship Program Overview:

Ideos Institute is currently seeking exceptional interns for the Center for Empathy in Christian and Public Life (CECPL) who are committed to seeking constructive change through empathic dialogue around the complex issues in our world today. This competitive, remote internship will equip future leaders with hands-on experience. Interns will develop robust networks in both faith and democracy sectors and have ample opportunities for written publications and public speaking. Interns will receive supervision, theological training, and mentorship from CECPL Director, Amar D. Peterman (M.Div., Princeton Seminary).

This internship program is flexible to meet degree and field education requirements. Interns are expected to work an average of 5-8 hours a week, including a weekly meeting with a supervisor. Ideos Interns will assist in week-to-week administrative tasks, editing for the CECPL Commentary, developing the CECPL Newsletter, grant-writing, and research for CECPL curriculum and book projects. Interns will also be trained in Ideos Institutes’ innovative empathy framework.

CECPL Internships are currently remote and unpaid. However, individuals can (and are encouraged to) seek external funding from individuals or their institutions.

About Ideos Institute:

Ideos Institute is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that works to advance the principles of empathy and empathic intelligence in Christian and public life. Inspired by the Christian principles of biblical justice, restoration, and reconciliation, our programs sit at the intersection of faith, dialogue, and civic engagement. With a multimedia approach, our empathy framework equips engaged citizens and inspired leaders to build their own authentic empathy skills, build cultures of equity, and play a leading role in the creation of redemptive ideas and solutions with others.

About CECPL:

The Ideos Institute’s Center for Empathy in Christian & Public Life seeks to equip emerging leaders across America to lead change and mobilize their communities, institutions, and places of worship to build empathy and foster unity. We will do this by providing the resources needed for Christians to engage in the issues that plague our communities (such as social inequality, white supremacy, Christian nationalism, and systemic racism) through biblically informed and culturally relevant material written by Christian leaders from across the United States. In return, we will also provide opportunities for Christians to practice empathy both at a communal and institutional level through our various programs.
