The assistant manager of accounting operations is responsible for supporting the manager of accounting operations by supervising the accounting operations team and ensuring accurate maintenance of the financial records of HOPE’s domestic entities. The assistant manager will train, coach, and mentor the accounting operations team. This role participates in the processing and posting of monthly payroll, manages domestic cash flows, and oversees reconciliations of the investment accounts held by the organization. This role will provide support by contributing to and managing special projects as needed.

Responsibilities

• Promote and contribute to the fulfillment of HOPE International’s mission and vision.
• Accounting
• Process bi-weekly payroll and retirement plan benefits for staff on HOPE's payroll. Work closely with HR team and HOPE's payroll provider
• Supervise investment account reconciliations and permanent endowment reconciliations for month end close
• Assist with annual review of HOPE and domestic related entities' insurance policies and facilitate the workman's compensation audit
• Assist manager of accounting operations in ensuring proper internal controls and stewardship of HOPE and related domestic entities' fiscal assets
• Work closely with the manager of accounting operations, the manager of financial planning & analysis, the director of finance, and external auditors to achieve an unqualified annual audit opinion and ensure accounting transactions are posted in accordance with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and management requirements
• Management and Supervisory
• Manage part of the accounting operations team of full-time and part-time staff, ensuring staff are cared for and the team is positioned to handle the domestic finance operations to facilitate the mission and growth of HOPE International
• Oversee a timely month end close process, and review general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness for all domestic entities
• Oversee all aspects of domestic finance activities for domestic entities ensuring compliance to policies and procedures, including, but not limited to: funds transfers, accounts payable, corporate credit card functions, and state charitable solicitation registrations

• Oversee and manage HOPE's State Charitable Solicitation Registration process, ensuring HOPE International is legally registered as needed to solicit contributions in all necessary states
• Oversee registrations for ECFA, registered agents, annual registration reports, and other organizations as necessary
• Assist the manager of accounting operations in planning for and executing special projects

Qualifications

• Personal confession of Christian faith and commitment to the mission and vision of HOPE International.

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business preferred

• Experience with corporate multi-entity month end close, general ledger and posting journal entries

• 3-5 years of relevant accounting experience, including 2-3 years management experience

• Strong attention to detail, and ability to locate and reconcile variances

• Strong organizational skills, including effective time management and prioritization of competing demands/multiple deadlines

• Ability to supervise and manage a team, including training and reviewing the work of others Advanced computer and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) skills

• Experience with accounting systems, including new system implementations a plus

• Experience with NetSuite, ADP, Concur, Workday Adaptive, Salesforce, Ramp and other Suite Apps preferred; willingness to learn essential
