Allied Health Instructor

Duties of allied health instructors include, but are not limited, to:
● Assigning and grading class work and homework.
● Attending professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training
workshops to maintain and improve professional competence.
● Attending staff meetings and serving on committees, as required.
● Establishing and enforcing rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order
among students.
● Instructing students in the knowledge and skills required in a specific occupation or
occupational field, using a systematic plan of lectures, discussions, audio-visual
presentations, and laboratory, shop, and field studies.
● Instructing students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods, such as
lectures, discussions, and demonstrations.
● Keeping informed about trends in education and subject matter specialties.
● Meeting with other professionals to discuss individual students’ needs and progress.
● Planning and conducting activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration,
and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and
investigate.
● Preparing, administering, and grading tests and assignments to evaluate students’
progress.
● Using computers, audio-visual aids, and other equipment and materials to supplement
presentations.
● Planning and supervising class projects, field trips, visits by guest speakers or other
experiential activities, and guide students in learning from those activities.
● Observing and evaluating students’ performance, behavior, social development, and
physical health.
● Enforcing all administration policies and rules governing students.
● Establishing clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and communicating those
objectives to students.
● Preparing materials and classroom for class activities.
● Selecting, ordering, storing, issuing, and inventorying classroom equipment, materials,
and supplies.
● Preparing objectives and outlines for courses of study, following curriculum guidelines or
requirements of states and schools.

● Maintaining accurate and complete student records as required by law, district policy, and
administrative regulations.
● Preparing and implementing remedial programs for students requiring extra help.
● Collaborating with other teachers and administrators in the development, evaluation, and
revision of allied health programs.
● Preparing reports on students and activities as required by administration.
● Instructing and monitoring students in the use and care of equipment and materials to
prevent injury and damage.
● Guiding and counseling students with adjustment or academic problems, or special
academic interests.
● Conferring with other staff members to plan and schedule lessons promoting learning,
following approved curricula.
● Placing students in jobs or making referrals to job placement services.
● Enforcing 85% rate policy to learners expectations.
● 3-5 years of experience working directly in the field of Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant.
Related fields are welcome (i.e. nursing).
