Position Summary: As a head teacher you will play a pivotal role in managing the overall

operation of the AsOne High School, your responsibilities includes curriculum

development, staff management, budgeting, student discipline, fostering a positive

school culture, liaising with parents and the community, and ensuring the school meets

educational standards and regulations.

Position Details

● Full time

● Based in Kaberamaido, some travel is required

● Contract negotiations and renewals are yearly

● Reports to the Community Director

Role Responsibilities

● Leadership and management: Providing strong leadership and management to

staff, students, and parents, ensuring the smooth running of the school

● Curriculum development: Overseeing the development and implementation of

the school curriculum, ensuring it meets education standards and caters to the

needs of the students

● Staff management: Recruiting, training, and managing teaching and support staff,

as well as conducting performance evaluations and providing professional

development opportunities

● Student welfare: Ensuring the welfare and safety of students, including

implementing policies and procedures for safeguarding, behavior management,

and student support services

● Budget management: Work hand in hand with the community director to manage

the school budget effectively, allocating resources efficiently, and overseeing

financial planning and reporting

● School administration: Overseeing day- to-day administrative tasks such as

timetabling, scheduling, record-keeping, and communication with parents and

external agencies

● Educational standards and accountability: Monitoring and evaluating the

school’s performance against educational standards and implementing strategies

for improvement as needed

● Professional development: Engaging in continuous professional development to

keep up to date with educational trends, best practices, and relevant regulations

● Legal and regulatory compliance: Ensuring compliance with relevant laws,

regulations, and policies governing education, health and safety, and employment

practices.

● Crisis management: Handling crises or emergencies effectively, including

communicating with relevant authorities, parents, and the wider community

● Parents and community engagement: Building strong relationships with parents,

the local community, and relevant stakeholders, and fostering positive school

culture

● Strategic planning: Developing and implementing long-term strategic plans for

the schools development and improvement, in consultation with staff, governors,

and other stakeholders

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

● Diploma/degree in education

● Proven working experience of 5 years as a headteacher or deputy head teacher

for a secondary school.

● Strong leadership skills

● Excellent communication skills

● Effective management capabilities

● Curriculum development expertise

● Understanding of child development and educational psychology

● Proficiency in staff supervision and development

● Knowledge of educational policies and regulation

● Technology proficiency - competence in using educational technology tools and

resources to enhance instruction and facilitate learning
