Position Summary: A clinical officer is a healthcare professional who will provide medical

care, diagnose, and treat patients, prescribe medication, perform surgeries, and provide

preventive care. You will play a crucial role in delivering healthcare services, especially in

underserved areas.

Position Details

● Full Time

● Based in the Namayemba community, but some travel may be required

● Contract negotiations and renewals are yearly

● Reports to the Clinical Administrator

Role Responsibilities

● Patient assessment: Conducting thorough assessment of patients medical

histories, symptoms, and physical condition to diagnose illnesses and develop

treatment plans

● Treatment planning and implementation: Developing and implementing

treatment plans for patients, which may include prescribing medication,

administering injections, and providing other medical intervention

● Clinical procedures: Performing various clinical procedures such as wound care,

suturing, minor surgeries, and assisting with major surgeries

● Patient education: Providing education to patients and their families about their

medical conditions, treatment options, and preventive healthcare measures

● Monitoring and evaluation: Monitoring patients’ progress throughout the course

of treatment, evaluating the effectiveness of interventions, and adjusting treatment

plans as needed

● Emergency care: Providing emergency medical care to patients in urgent

situations, including stabilizing patients, administering emergency medications,

and coordinating with other healthcare providers.

● Collaborating and referrals: Collaborating with other healthcare professionals,

such as physicians, nurses, and specialists, to ensure comprehensive care for

patients and referring patients to specialists or higher level of care when

necessary

● Documentation and record- keeping: Maintaining accurate and up to date

medical records for patients, including documenting assessments, treatments, and

progress notes

● Health promotion and disease prevention: Promoting healthy behaviors and

lifestyles to prevent illness and injury, conducting screenings, and participating in

community health outreach programs

● Quality improvement: Participating in quality improvement initiatives within

healthcare facilities to enhance patient care and safety standards

● Work with the clinic admin on extra leadership roles like meeting, and other clinic

related duties

● Other duties may be assigned to you from time to time as need may arise.

Position Qualifications

● Diploma in clinical medicine from a recognized institution

● Registration and licensing with the medical regulatory body

● Proven working experience in that position as a clinical officer for at least 1 year

● Strong medical knowledge and clinical skills

● Completion of a clinical internship program

● Good communication and interpersonal skills

● Ability to work well under pressure and in a team
