Position Summary: A nursery teacher is to facilitate the holistic development of young
children by creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating learning environment.
Position Details
● Full time
● Based in one community, but some travel required
● Contract negotiations and renewals are yearly
● Reports to the Head Teacher
Role Responsibilities
● Curriculum planning: Designing and implementing age-appropriate lesson plans
and activities that promote physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development
of young children
● Classroom management: Creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating learning
environment conducive to the needs of nursery- aged children
● Instruction and interaction: Providing instruction and guidance to children
through structured and unstructured activities, including storytelling, music, and
movement, arts and craft, and free play
● Individual support: Recognizing and addressing the diverse needs and abilities of
each child, including those with special needs
● Assessment and progress monitoring: Observing and assessing children’s
development and progress, maintaining records of their achievements and
milestones, and communicating with parents about child growth and
development.
● Parent involvement: Establishing and maintaining open, positive communication
with parents or caregivers, including conducting parent - teacher meetings,
sharing progress reports and providing resources and support for parents

● Collaborating: Collaborating with other nursery teachers and staff members, as
well as external professionals such as speech therapists or psychologists, to
support the holistic development of children
● Professional development: Engaging in ongoing professional development
opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay informed about best skills and
stay informed about best practices
● Health and safety: Ensuring the health, safety, and well- being of children at all
times by following proper hygiene practices
● Culture sensitivity and inclusion: Creating an inclusive and culturally responsive
learning environment that respects and celebrates diversity
● Positive behavior management: Implementing positive behavior management
strategies to promote self-discipline, cooperation and respect among children
Position Qualifications
● Certificate in child development course
● At least 2 years of experience as a nursery teacher
● Excellent team player and good at creating team work
● Works effectively as part of a team
● Strong organization skills
● Creativity and flexibility
● Patience and empathy
● Excellent communication skill
● Knowledge of child development
